Dental Bonding in Frisco, TX

Tooth bonding is a cosmetic procedure that can help with the appearance of tooth gaps and chipped teeth. It is a very common procedure that is painless and compared to other options, it is inexpensive.

Dental bonding in Frisco, TX will not work for all situations, though. It depends on the severity of the chip or gap between teeth. If interested in tooth bonding, come into Frisco Dental in Frisco, TX for a free cosmetic dentistry consultation.

What is Dental Bonding?

During a tooth bonding procedure, a dentist applies a composite resin to your problem areas. The area is then cured with ultraviolet light. Afterward, the dentist shapes the resin and polishes it. As tooth bonding is a cosmetic procedure, your insurance may not cover it. You should call your insurance carrier to find out if your policy covers dental bonding in Frisco, TX.

There are some clear advantages and disadvantages to this procedure.

Advantages

  • Invasiveness – The tooth bonding procedure happens on the top of the teeth. Very little prep work has to occur on teeth before going through this procedure. There is no surgery or extraction. The process is simple and relatively painless.
  • Time to completion – Tooth bonding is a one-day process. Tooth bonding does not include crowns or other things that require lab creation to complete the procedure. The treatment is completed in one dental visit.
  • Cost – Tooth bonding is less costly than other procedures, such as a dental implant. There is, however, a better chance that your insurance will cover part or all of an implant over tooth bonding. Do call to find out what coverage you have.

Disadvantages

  • Durability – Dental bonding is not super durable. You will probably need subsequent work in under five years if you go this route. For this reason, it is an excellent option for a short term fix while you wait to save up for a more expensive procedure.
  • Stains – The bonding resin will stain over time, much more than a dental crown or veneer. If the bonding is in a very noticeable area, you should think about how this will affect you.

Other Facts About Dental Bonding

Your dental bonds will last between four and eight years. The amount of time it will last depends on the location of the bonding in your mouth and on your tooth. It also depends on the types of food that you tend to consume. If you like to eat sticky and crunchy foods, like rice snacks or Laffy Taffy, you risk losing the dental bond before the eight years. Anything that can compromise the fusion of the bonding material to your tooth will reduce the length of the material’s life.

Caring for your teeth will be the same as your natural teeth. We recommend that you brush and floss twice a day, or after eating. Some mouthwashes can help with staining, but the big staining culprits are tobacco, wine, coffee, tea, and dark cola. Use a straw when you can to route the staining liquids past the bond material so that it does not become stained.

Best dental team in Texas!!! I have been to them now for 2 dental emergencies and in both cases they have been phenomenal. on my last visit, I needed 2 teeth pulled. after the 1st tooth, my anxiety was getting the best of me (I have very bad dental anxiety) and before I even said anything, Dr. E offered to reschedule my other tooth for another day. not only do they do amazing work, but they actively listen to their patients and work with them. i will recommend them to everyone i know, and I'm certainly not going anywhere else!
