If you are dealing with tooth loss, we want you to know that it doesn’t have to be a permanent condition. Many patients come to us because tooth decay, periodontal disease, injury or illness has caused the loss of one or more of their teeth. The good news, however, is that there are several treatments that can restore your smile and give you back the appearance and function of a full set of teeth. Would you like to know what your options are?
Depending on the reason for tooth loss and other factors — how it’s affected your jawbone and the rest of your teeth — we will recommend the best treatment for your particular case. The following treatments are what we use to restore your smile in the case of tooth loss:
- Dental implants — Missing teeth can cause the jawbone to deteriorate after a period of time, but if it is still healthy, we may recommend dental implants as your tooth loss solution. It is the most durable and longest lasting solution because the restoration is implanted into your jawbone, resulting in a strong secure fit.
- Dental bridge — A common treatment for tooth loss, bridges fill the space in your smile with the use of a prosthetic tooth that is secured on either side of the gap by your remaining teeth. This also provides a secure fit that helps restore the function and appearance of your teeth.
- Dentures — This treatment is often recommended for a row of missing teeth and are most often made to be removable. Dentures can be “fixed” and only removed here at our office, as well.
Your dental health and well-being is important to us. Missing teeth can affect how you chew food and speak as well as how you feel about your smile, but please know that a solution is possible. Please contact us with any questions you may have; we look forward to seeing you at your next visit.
